Through research and exploring my own creativity, I wanted to bring meaning to my chamber composition, but also draw connections to Bach's Come, Sweet Death (the work selected for my improvisation project) and real life experiences. I remembered the Latin imperative Momento, mori, momento vivere, which translates to "remember that you will die, remember that you must live." This imperative had me reflect on my own mortality, the experiences of losing loved ones, and what it means to live. The world around us can become so hectic and busy that we sometimes forget how precious life is. Ricordati di Vivere (Remember to Live) was composed to reflect these experiences and as my response to Bach's Come, Sweet Death.
